Update Details

This page details all the updates made to Summit Central (SCL) from time of first release.

Check what your current version of Summit Central is by selecting About Summit... from the Help Menu. Your current version number will be displayed at the top of the About Summit screen after the words Summit Central Version

From 4.14.07 - 4.14.08 (released 03 September 2010)

New Features/Modifcations

Enhanced Importing profiles assignation process to cater for later versions of spreadsheet import process that convert literal text values to True/False fields.
Modified error message display in Collect Mail function of Internet Assistant.
Modified error checking in Internet Assistant Check Mail function to check for Express Click Yes and report accordingly.
Modified software registration process so that registration actions are more clear and also removed any macros from the process as these can cause issues on runtime installations.
Modified Internet Assistant collect mail function to advise if no Summit related e-mails collected and record latest time received of any message rather than latest time received of a Summit related e-mail.
Changed all mail merge functions to use Excel as a datasource rather than a comma delimited text file as some countires use commas as the comma causes a conflict in countries that use the comma as a decimal separator.
Modified Internet Assistant to keep processing through Inbox after encountering a corrupt message or a message with embedded attachments. Details of number of unreadable Inbox items is added to the Internet events log and not displayed as a separate message box warning.
Added Receipts Reporter similar to the one available in Summit Event Manager.
Added new Payment Allocations by Person report to the Receipts Reporter.
Modified macro that forces setting of Outlook Object Model reference to display a completion message if user initiated.

New Features/Modifcations

Modified last mail check time updating on Internet Assistant.
Added the ability for user to locate Outlook Object Library file 'msoutl.olb' by browsing for it if normal adding of reference by GUID fails. Also added ability to run the set Outlook reference function from Run Macro on the After Menu.
Modified Internet Assistant Check Mail Now function to ignore non-mail objects.

Fixes

Corrected an issue where an e-mail with no attachment could not be sent from Summit if Outlook was not open.

From 4.14.05 - 4.14.06 (released 09 July 2010)

New Features/Modifcations

Modified Not Renewing function on Membership screen.
Modified software for faster navigation to and from entry menu in Office 2007 and Office 2010.
Changed e-mailing interface in Summit to use the Outlook Object Model (OOM) rather than Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) as CDO can not be installed on computers that do not have Outlook 2007 or earlier versions of Outlook installed. This means that a new computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 can not install CDO.
Modified software registration process to enable user to send what they are entering to MIE Software.
Modified unpersonalised blast e-mail function to check for mail merge tags that would not be handled correctly in an unpersonalised blast e-mail. Gives user the chance to modify before starting unpersonalised blast e-mail.

Corrected an error where not all selected user defined fields were loaded into a Summit Central web file.

From 4.14.02 - 4.14.03 (released 18 December 2009)

New Features/Modifcations

When sending to an event file, correspondence type is now set to match their Summit Central correspondence type.
Modified People form so that when first opened in Access 2007, it does not apply any residual filters. I.E. the initial opening is always without any filters ahowing all records.
Modified import from event file process to cater for imports from Summit Event Manager Version 11.
Modified Internet Assistant so that when renewing, membership history start date is now set to the day after previous expiry date.

Fixes

Corrected an error where event manager e-mail was not always displayed on possible duplicate comparison screen during import from event process.

Corrected an error where the check boxes for profiles 17, 18 and 19 were not displayed on the Action tab of the Reporter.
Corrected an error on the Internet Assistant when collecting join and renewal e-mails.
Modified membership history details screen so that discount and extra charges changes made on this screen are reflected in tax invoices.

Corrected an error where previously e-mailed receipts and tax invoices could be re-emailed from the Correspondence screen.

From 4.13.08 - 4.14.01 (released 27 October 2009)

New Features/Modifcations

Modified path verification routine to report low connectivity.
Software now checks integrity of table links after creating a new data file, opening another data and starting the software. This is to prevent users inadvertently having data open in a second data file due to a network or system problem while opening or creating an event.
Lengthened profiles and user defined prompts for better matching with Summit Event Manager.

Fixes

Corrected an error where previously e-mailed receipts and tax invoices could be re-emailed from the Correspondence screen.

Modified bulk correspondence to only pick up unprinted receipts and tax invoices
Modified Correspondence screen so that tax invoices and adjustment notes to be e-mailed are also displayed when user clicks View button.
Added direct links to on-line installation programs for LiveMeeting, Express ClickYes and Win2PDF to the Web Resources menu. Also modified hyperlink opening to force a new window.
When prompting for the file name or a custom update file, default file name is now based on current date.

New Features/Modifcations

New product/sales report: Sales by Person. Report can be filtered by date range, product etc.
Modified correspondence so that long EFT details display correctly on correspondence.
Added the ability to send SMS via e-mail from Summit for users based in New Zealand, the United Kindom and the United States of America (previously only available for Australian users). SMS messages can be sent singly from the People screen (by double-clicking on the Mobile/Cell field) or in multiples from the Reporter. Requires sign up of sending e-mail addresses at http://www.miesoftware.com/sms_signup.cfm.
Added the ability to requery a form's underlying recordset without having to close and re-open the form. User presses Ctrl+r.
Modified import process so that it is not terminated if there is a problem reading the data file's lock file.
Modified point in transaction at which rounding is carried out for greater accuracy when sale quantity is large and price is small and GST percentage rate is used.

Fixes

Corrected an error where Sales Amount Due was not rounded to the currency rounding setting.

From 4.13.01 - 4.13.03 (released 03 April 2009)

New Features/Modifcations

New process to change the primary corporate member for a nominated corporate membership. Called from Run Macro on Main Menu.
After clearing Not Renewing check box, other appropriate membership fields are enabled.
Modifed correspondence e-mailing so that attachment name is no longer forced into Title Case.
When View is selected on the Organiser, the person's organisation is now displayed as well as their name.
Modified event interface functions to be compatible with Version 9, Version 10 and Version 11 event files. This update MUST be installed before installing Summit Event Manager Version 11.
Reporter now only checks overly long headings if user has selected listing.
Modified bulk e-mailing functions to better handle e-mail addresses with leading or trailing spaces.
New report: Current memberships by membership type.
Modified People form so that Notes field is always displayed, whether user has selected Work, Home or Other Address as their default address tab.

New Features/Modifcations

New report in membership listings: Membership by Membership Type
Increased the length of the Diet and the DietAP fields from 50 to 255 characters.
Added email merge fields for work, home, other and mailing contact details.
When importing from Summit Event Manager new incoming records use the Summit Central Salutation settings and base the 'mail to', 'e-mail to' and 'SMS to' settings on the Summit Event Manager settings, rather than the default Summit Central settings. There is also a new routine to ensure that all E-Mail To settings are pointing to a valid e-mail address.
Added the ability for the Internet Assistant to process web membership joins. Joins can be standard joins, where the person joining is not yet in database, or authorised joins, where the person joining has been entered on the database, "vetted" and unathorised to join.
Modified checking of P.A. e-mail address to better check for an invalid e-mail address before cc-ing them.
Added the ability for the Internet Assistant to process course bookings.
People form can now be opened from anywhere in the software with Ctrl+F2.
Modifed organisation AutoFill process to only copy Switch phone, not direct phone.
Modified control tip text of People previous and next buttons to reflect person or organisation being searched for.

Fixes

Corrected an error where Profile 19 was not updated correctly by the Internet Assistant when processing on-line name and address updates.
Corrected an error where an insufficient number of records could be identified when a multi-group selection was combined with an OR comparison operator on other fields on the Reporter.
Corrected an error calculating amount owed when applying discounts to course attendance records.

New Features/Modifcations

Modified Run Macro screen so that macros that are not on the pull-down list can still be run.
Added Qualification for a person to information that can be merged into the body of an e-mail. Information can be qualification name only, qualification and institution or qualification institution and year attained.
Added Special Interest Groups for a person to information that can be merged into the body of an e-mail. Information can be current, past or all special interest groups.

Modified address labels to avoid "some data may not be displayed" error message when producing address labels.
New process to enable users to make a custom update file containing any objects (forms, reports etc.) that they have created or modified. They can then re-apply their modifications after updating their software.
Modified addition of corporate associate member process so that a person that is a current or past individual member can be added as a corporate associate member.
Modified display of membership screen so that it can now be displayed for corporate associate members. This is to enable the display and modification of membership history for people who have switched from being individual members to being corporate associate members.
Modified credit card payment entry and handling for better security compliance.
Software registration process will now detect extra spaces and line breaks from registration name pasted from e-mail.
Software registration form now has a button so that MIE Software can be e-mailed exactly what serial number and registered name is being entered.
Eliminated the need to have separate reports for PDF correspondence and broadcast e-mail reports. This is because of the issue of saving Specific Printer reports in Access 2007. E-mailed PDF correspondence now uses the standard "Default Printer" reports. Specifically, the following reports are no longer used: Invoicep, Receiptp, RenewalConfirmationLetterp, RenewalReminderLetterp, RenewalRequestLetterp, TaxInvoicep, WelcomeLetterp, MemByBranchNPp, MemByBranchSummaryNPp, MemByChapterNPp, MemByChapterSummaryNPp, MemByRegionNPp, MemByRegionSummaryNPp, MemByRegionSummaryBp, MemByRegionSummaryCp.
Modified Internet Assistant so that a missing Mail To indicator in a demographics update does not generate the same message as an invalid Mail To indicator.
Minor changes to calling of HTML Help.

Added TotalOutstanding as a field in the Reporter Export function.
Modified Internet Assistant to force recalculation of TotalOutstanding while processing financial transactions.
When user selects a Reporter option indicating that they may be contacting people, such as E-Mail or Word Merge, the software will now check if there any records on the database marked as 'Do Not Contact' and warn them in they have not also checked Don't Include 'Do Not Contact' on the Reporter.
Modified payment entry screen so that double-clicking in Drawer retrieves the person's organisation and double-clicking in Cardholder's Name retrieves the person's name.
Name and address block on correspondence can now be offset to the right for better display in window faced envelopes
Person's name is now displayed on top of payment entry screen.
Added the ability for the Internet Assistant to process name and address updates web submissions via e-mail.

New Features/Modifcations

Increased address update warnings when importing from an event file and further restricted membership number importing when importing from an event file.
Modified importing processes to prevent accidental ovwerwriting of membership numbers.
Changed recording of application user name to use logged on Windows user name rather than Access user name. This change has been made for two reasons. 1. most people do not use the Access user name feature, so all users are identified as Admin. 2. Access user based security has been removed from Access 2007 onwards.
Modified Internet Assistant renewal processing so that an existing chapter for a member is not overwritten if a blank or invalid chapter comes in the Renewal e-mail.

Fixes

Corrected an error message appearing on the Reporter if a user entered an organisation name that was not in the database.
Corrected an error where donation amount paid was not taken into consideration on tax invoice paid total.

Primary Access window's Close button is now disabled so that users can not accidentally close the application when closing a maximised form or report.
Modified Membership Totals by Chapter report to display in Membership Type order within each chapter.

Added Quantity to the Sales screen and separated Sales and Rentals into two screens.
Modified GST recording so user can only have GST Rate or GST Amount, not both.

Fixes

Corrected an error with page footer display on Payments Processed Today report.
Corrected an error where if a multi-membership type selection was used as the basis for an export to Excel, all records were exported, instead of just the records with the selected membership types.

Modified initialisation process to set last on-line update check to current date for newly installed/updated software.
To avoid delays on multi-user systems, shut down process now only recalculates search names when last person closes database.

Added 'No Show" tracking of Summit Event Manager events. A no show is someone who was meant to participate, but did not. On import from Summit Event file, no shows can be identified. No shows can be recorded in event history and retrieved via the Reporter. No show status has also bee added to the various event attendance reports.
Added Special Diet, Primary Accompanying Person details, and Primary Accompanying Person Special Diet as columns that can be chosen on Reporter Name Plus. listings.

Enhanced import process so that embedded nicknames can be separately extracted from the main name and optionally stored in a nominated user defined field.
Modified import process for better comparison of addresses for matching purposes.
Modified spacing of some reporter prompts for better readability.
When displaying possible duplicates while importing records, if user selects Update Address Details, user defined fields and profiles are now also updated if they have values in the record being imported.
Added web access user name and password to fields exported by a Reporter export.

Web access user names and passwords can now be assigned or removed using the Reporter Action function.
Web access user names and passwords are now also displayed on the Personal Information form so that web access can be given to non-members.
Added web access user name and password to renewal request letters.

Fixes

Corrected a problem where dynamically generated report headings and fields did not display correctly in Office 2007.
Corrected an error when importing Renewals with payment via Internet Assistant.

Software can now automatically check on-line for software updates at a user specified interval.
New report showing combined professional development credits for both external event session attendance and short course attendance for a nominated date range.
Event Attendance by Person report can now be filtered for a date range.

New reports: Membership totals by membership type and membership totals by chapter.

Added Internet Assistant processing of on-line User Name/Password Changes and Membership Renewals.
Web file created by Internet Assistant now includes CourseAttendance table. This is to enable calculation of credit points earned by an on-line process.

Fixes

Corrected an error where some reference file pointer numeric fields (such as Referral Source)were not handled correctly when updating a field using the Bulk Updater.
Corrected an error where a person's sales and donations did not display under Access 2007.
Corrected an error where corporate associated members could also be selected as non-members on the Reporter.

Modified check for unregistered software opening large data files so that user is given the chance to register software immediately.
Modified software packaging initialisation routine to empty out all temporary InternetAssistant tables.
Modified Install Custom Update process so that update files are no longer restricted to being named 'sclu.cdb'. They can now be any name beginning wth 'sclu' and ending with '.cdb', for example scluclientName14July2007.cdb. This is to make it easier for clients with multiple custom updates to identify and archive separate updates more effectively.
Export from Reporter now includes membership type and chapter name.
When user selects Check for Free Software Updates from the Web Resources menu the web page now displays their current software version and advises which update file to download.

New process to check all donations and match the donation amount paid to the total of receipt lines referencing that donation. Called from Run Macro on main menu.

New report: Course Attendance with Special Requirements. This report lists any special dietary requirements or special needs of any participant of a nominated course.
New Course Attendance participants list showing address and contact details.
Added the ability to the membership form to cancel a person's membership type if they do not have any membership history.
Modified about Form to only display build to 2 decimal places for consistency with other products.
Converted Summit Central from Windows Help to HTML Help to enable cCompatibility with Windows Vista.
Modified install custom update feature so that update file no longer has to be 'clu.cdb'. Custom update files now only need to end in 'clu.cdb'.
Change button wording on Main menu for courses and meetings to say attendance list rather than attendance update to better reflect other report options under this button.

New process to automatically allocate membership numbers for people that are either individual members or corporate primary members that do not have membership numbers. Number assignment is based on the Auto Assign method specified on the Membership tab of the Database Options form. Process is called from the Run Macro form.
Modified People form so that home and other addresses can not be selected as mailing address if both address line 1 and address line 2 are blank.
New Event by organisation reports - detailed and summary. Can be filtered for a nominated date range.

Enhanced Donations component. Specifically: Donor is now a field on the People form. The filter option for the People form can now include showing only Donors. Donor is now a selectable field on the Reporter. For newly created databases Number of Donations and Total Paid in Donations are available as columns in Name Plus. Listings from the Reporter. These columns can be added to existing data files by editing the ReportFieldChoices table in each database and adding the following two rows. Row 1 Description is Number of Donations and FieldName is =NumDonationsForPIN([PIN]) . Row 2 Description is Total Paid in Donations and FieldName is =Format(TotalDonationsForPIN([PIN]),"Currency") . People will automatically be marked as donors when they allocate some or all of a payment to a donation. People that have already made donations will be automatically marked as donors when database files are updated to 4.09 format.
Increased the length of membership type and chapter pull-down lists throughout the software. Changes to the bulk updater: 1. Corrected an error where member initialization did not perform correctly if initializing based on a group 2. Corrected an error where user defined date fields did not correctly initialize joining date and membership expiry date. 3. Added PIN number range as a selection criteria for initializing membership details. This also enables a single record to be initialized.
