Update Details
This page details all the updates made to Summit Central (SCL) from time of first release.
To decide if you want to update:
- Check what your current version of Summit Central is by selecting About Summit... from the Help Menu. Your current version number will be displayed at the top of the About Summit screen after the words Summit Central Version
- Check the improvements between your version and the current version on the list below

From 4.14.15 - 4.14.16 (released 12 January 2012)
New Features/Modifications
- Added the ability to have the name of the corporate primary member and the names of all associated members displayed on the tax invoice associated with a corporate membership join or renewal. To activate this ability, "Show Names on Corporate Membership Tax Invoice Lines" check box on Personal Options screen must be checked.
- Modified code library reference setting process to occur earlier when opening software to avoid "Macro not found" startup error on some Windows 7 systems.
- Modified Events Marketing Reporter so that if reporting on non-attendance report can be expanded to include non-attendance at courses and/or meetings.
- Modified e-mail checking routine to also check for ".." which is invalid.
- Added tracing of e-mails being sent from Reporter so that if an error occurs it is easier to determine which record is causing the problem.
- Added a utility function to check for corruption in the Comments memo field in the People table. Run by entering checkComments in the Run Macro form.

New Features/Modifications
- Added warning about problem importing when there are field names starting with a space
- Modified Reporter e-mail SMS sending process to send in strict PIN order. This is to make it easier to resume interrupted transmissions using the From PIN and To PIN filters.
- Increased Reporter tab width for better display on Access 2010.
- Modified course attendance report so that user has the option of displaying or hiding amount owing on the printed report.
- Modified process when membership form is closed to instantly relect a change in membership type on the People screen.
- Modified People form so that name displayed at top of screen is blanked out if creating a new record.
- Modified People screen so that name at top of screen is blanked out on new record.
- Checked that all screens except menu entry were modal.

- Corrected an error where discounts and extra charges were not accounted for correctly on the sales report.
- Corrected an error where a message box referring to an error in altering Payment Amount was displayed when creating refunds.
- Corrected an error where Discounts report did not print correctly.

- Increased width of Payment Number column on Payments by Date Banked reports so that it displays correctly when there are a large number of payments.

New Features/Modifications
- Widened tab on Database Options form for better display on Access 2007 and Access 2010.
- Removed display reference to Receipts Processed Today report from Receipts screen.
- Modified payment allocation process for sales so that a sale can be fully discounted. I.e. a sale that has been fully discounted can have a payment applied against it so that a refund can be issued.
- Added additional information messages to create Central Web File process.
- Modified open current person form to give more possible reasons for failure to open the nominated form.
- Modified Internet Assistant to prevent duplication of message contact in detailed e-mail responses.
- Modify the way listings are opened from the Reporter to work around a bug introduced with Access 2010 Service Pack 1 that ignores report WHERE clauses when recordsets are altered dynamically on report open.

- Added CVN reference to remittance advices.
- Modified Membership screen so that user modification of string version of the membership number is reflected in the hidden numeric version.
- New queries to facilitate cash based, rather than accrual reporting: PaymentsToMembershipHistory, PaymentsToCourseAttendance, PaymentsToSales, PaymentsToSalesForProductGroup.
- Double-clicking on the membership type of a corporate associate member on the People screen will now display the membership type details of the corporate primary member.
- Added membership related discounts and extra charges to the income detailed report.
- Corrected an error on the Internet Assistant where some dempgraphics updates did not complete successfully.
From 4.14.10 - 4.14.11 (released 08 April 2011)
New Features/Modifications
- Modified Internet registration process so that if a new payment type is encountered it is automatically added to the Payment Types table.
- Modified Internet Assistant so that check mail now process now logs full details of folder being searched and user details.
- Modified e-mail registration details to explicitly say which product is being registered.
- Added a new feature to the Bulk Updater where the contents of a nominated user defined text field can be converted to existing profiles.
- Improved resetting of user defined fields.
- Added Avery J8560 21 per page label stationery to stationery available for address labels.
- Modified process that checks to see if Win2PDF is registered to check new registry locations for Win2PDF version 7
- Modified renewal process so that a person marked as not renewing can be renewed using the Renew screen with no error messages.
- Modified Reporter so that a multi-group selection on the Multi-Group tab does not interfere with a simultaneous multi-group selection on the Action tab. This modification also speeds up the display of group names when selecting multiple groups.
- New report called from Membership Listings showing Membership by Membership Type displaying organisation instead of member name.
Fixes
- Corrected an error wher records that are not tagged are not selected correctly by the Reporter.

New Features/Modifications
- Added the ability for someone that has ticked not renewing and cleared their membership information to join.
- Removed validation of gender when creating a Summit Central web file.
- Modified colour display of Next Contact Date to use Conditional Formatting.
- Modified import from event file process to allow user to stipulate that salutations be imported exactly as entered in the event file, rather than converted to the specified Summit Central format.
- Modified "Save As" function to use user's selected default folder.
- Modified People and Groups screens for faster display and record navigation under Windows Vista and Windows 7.
- Modified Bulk Updater to force mailing address update after all actions.
- Added the ability for Demographics Updates to also process change of chapter.
Fixes
- Corrected a "missing expression" error on the Reporter when using Access 2007 or Access 2010
- Corrected a problem with on-line transactions being processed into the wrong database file when a client has multiple on-line registration forms and some data files have names with similar endings.

- Added attendance category to course attendance report.
- Added the ability to check for and recreate deleted tax invoices.
- Modified Internet Assistant so that WebLink fields can not have a leading space as this prevents the Internet Assistant from cross-matching the field.
- Modified Install Custom Update process to ensure that errors in user created custom update files do not cause Summit to attempt ot run non-existent Loader macro.
- Modified Internet Assistant so that no errors are generated when user defined auto e-mail content contains null fields.
- Increased width of Reporter tab to prevent multi-level tabbing on Access 2010 systems.
- Modified Internet Assistant so that leading non-breaking spaces are removed from text strings in the same way as normal spaces.

- Corrected an error where mail merge document did not display correctly when called from the Mail screen on the People screen.
- Corrected an error with auto e-mailing from the Internet Assistant.

New Features/Modifcations
- Enhanced Importing profiles assignation process to cater for later versions of spreadsheet import process that convert literal text values to True/False fields.
- Modified error message display in Collect Mail function of Internet Assistant.
- Modified error checking in Internet Assistant Check Mail function to check for Express Click Yes and report accordingly.
- Modified software registration process so that registration actions are more clear and also removed any macros from the process as these can cause issues on runtime installations.
- Modified Internet Assistant collect mail function to advise if no Summit related e-mails collected and record latest time received of any message rather than latest time received of a Summit related e-mail.
- Changed all mail merge functions to use Excel as a datasource rather than a comma delimited text file as some countires use commas as the comma causes a conflict in countries that use the comma as a decimal separator.
- Modified Internet Assistant to keep processing through Inbox after encountering a corrupt message or a message with embedded attachments. Details of number of unreadable Inbox items is added to the Internet events log and not displayed as a separate message box warning.
- Added Receipts Reporter similar to the one available in Summit Event Manager.
- Added new Payment Allocations by Person report to the Receipts Reporter.
- Modified macro that forces setting of Outlook Object Model reference to display a completion message if user initiated.

New Features/Modifcations
- Modified last mail check time updating on Internet Assistant.
- Added the ability for user to locate Outlook Object Library file 'msoutl.olb' by browsing for it if normal adding of reference by GUID fails. Also added ability to run the set Outlook reference function from Run Macro on the After Menu.
- Modified Internet Assistant Check Mail Now function to ignore non-mail objects.
Fixes
- Corrected an issue where an e-mail with no attachment could not be sent from Summit if Outlook was not open.

- Modified Not Renewing function on Membership screen.
- Modified software for faster navigation to and from entry menu in Office 2007 and Office 2010.
- Changed e-mailing interface in Summit to use the Outlook Object Model (OOM) rather than Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) as CDO can not be installed on computers that do not have Outlook 2007 or earlier versions of Outlook installed. This means that a new computer with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 can not install CDO.
- Modified software registration process to enable user to send what they are entering to MIE Software.
- Modified unpersonalised blast e-mail function to check for mail merge tags that would not be handled correctly in an unpersonalised blast e-mail. Gives user the chance to modify before starting unpersonalised blast e-mail.

- Modified create custom update file to be able to add to an existing cdb file as well as create a new one.
- Added cardholder name field to the renewals table in the Internet Assistant.
- Modified Internet Assistant processing of Joins and Renewals to pick up Cardholder Name for on-line payments.
- Added the ability to check through all mailing addresses and change the mailing address for records that currently have insufficient mailing address.
- Modified import process to not fail to write a record if the record being imported has a user name/password combination that already exists for another person.Software now reports the problem and does not write the conflicting user name or password.
- Modified Membership screen closing so that membership components are not checked if Not Renewing is ticked.
- Increased length of Description in Group Options table from 50 to 255 characters for more consistency with cross matched fields in other tables.
- Modified Install Custom Update, Ctrl+W and Where Am I functions to also display the most recent custom update file applied.

- Corrected an error where not all selected user defined fields were loaded into a Summit Central web file.
From 4.14.02 - 4.14.03 (released 18 December 2009)
New Features/Modifcations
- When sending to an event file, correspondence type is now set to match their Summit Central correspondence type.
- Modified People form so that when first opened in Access 2007, it does not apply any residual filters. I.E. the initial opening is always without any filters ahowing all records.
- Modified import from event file process to cater for imports from Summit Event Manager Version 11.
- Modified Internet Assistant so that when renewing, membership history start date is now set to the day after previous expiry date.
Fixes
- Corrected an error where event manager e-mail was not always displayed on possible duplicate comparison screen during import from event process.

- Corrected an error where the check boxes for profiles 17, 18 and 19 were not displayed on the Action tab of the Reporter.
- Corrected an error on the Internet Assistant when collecting join and renewal e-mails.
- Modified membership history details screen so that discount and extra charges changes made on this screen are reflected in tax invoices.

- Corrected an error where previously e-mailed receipts and tax invoices could be re-emailed from the Correspondence screen.

New Features/Modifcations
- Modified path verification routine to report low connectivity.
- Software now checks integrity of table links after creating a new data file, opening another data and starting the software. This is to prevent users inadvertently having data open in a second data file due to a network or system problem while opening or creating an event.
- Lengthened profiles and user defined prompts for better matching with Summit Event Manager.
Fixes
- Corrected an error where previously e-mailed receipts and tax invoices could be re-emailed from the Correspondence screen.

- Added direct links to on-line installation programs for LiveMeeting, Express ClickYes and Win2PDF to the Web Resources menu. Also modified hyperlink opening to force a new window.
- When prompting for the file name or a custom update file, default file name is now based on current date.

New Features/Modifcations
- New product/sales report: Sales by Person. Report can be filtered by date range, product etc.
- Modified correspondence so that long EFT details display correctly on correspondence.
- Added the ability to send SMS via e-mail from Summit for users based in New Zealand, the United Kindom and the United States of America (previously only available for Australian users). SMS messages can be sent singly from the People screen (by double-clicking on the Mobile/Cell field) or in multiples from the Reporter. Requires sign up of sending e-mail addresses at http://www.miesoftware.com/sms_signup.cfm.
- Added the ability to requery a form's underlying recordset without having to close and re-open the form. User presses Ctrl+r.
- Modified import process so that it is not terminated if there is a problem reading the data file's lock file.
- Modified point in transaction at which rounding is carried out for greater accuracy when sale quantity is large and price is small and GST percentage rate is used.
Fixes
- Corrected an error where Sales Amount Due was not rounded to the currency rounding setting.

New Features/Modifcations
- New process to change the primary corporate member for a nominated corporate membership. Called from Run Macro on Main Menu.
- After clearing Not Renewing check box, other appropriate membership fields are enabled.
- Modifed correspondence e-mailing so that attachment name is no longer forced into Title Case.
- When View is selected on the Organiser, the person's organisation is now displayed as well as their name.
- Modified event interface functions to be compatible with Version 9, Version 10 and Version 11 event files. This update MUST be installed before installing Summit Event Manager Version 11.
- Reporter now only checks overly long headings if user has selected listing.
- Modified bulk e-mailing functions to better handle e-mail addresses with leading or trailing spaces.
- New report: Current memberships by membership type.
- Modified People form so that Notes field is always displayed, whether user has selected Work, Home or Other Address as their default address tab.
- Tightened rules on deleting people that are involved in meetings, SIGs etc.
- Add not renewing date range as selection criteria on the Membership tab of the Reporter.
- Modified People form to make PA E-Mail easier to delete.

- Corrected an error where Other E-Mail address could not be blanked out.
- Corrected a problem where a user could attempt to allocate an amount of zero.
- Corrected an error when selecting by Special Interest Group on the Reporter.
- Corrected an error where too many records were selected when doing a multi-membership type selection on the Reporter.
- Corrected an error when deleting start or end dates from Committee Involvement records.
- Corrected a display error in the Find Person function.
- Corrected an error where Cancel function on Forms could be blocked by Windows Vista.

- New report in membership listings: Membership by Membership Type
- Increased the length of the Diet and the DietAP fields from 50 to 255 characters.
- Added email merge fields for work, home, other and mailing contact details.
- When importing from Summit Event Manager new incoming records use the Summit Central Salutation settings and base the 'mail to', 'e-mail to' and 'SMS to' settings on the Summit Event Manager settings, rather than the default Summit Central settings. There is also a new routine to ensure that all E-Mail To settings are pointing to a valid e-mail address.
- Added the ability for the Internet Assistant to process web membership joins. Joins can be standard joins, where the person joining is not yet in database, or authorised joins, where the person joining has been entered on the database, "vetted" and unathorised to join.
- Modified checking of P.A. e-mail address to better check for an invalid e-mail address before cc-ing them.
- Added the ability for the Internet Assistant to process course bookings.
- People form can now be opened from anywhere in the software with Ctrl+F2.
- Modifed organisation AutoFill process to only copy Switch phone, not direct phone.
- Modified control tip text of People previous and next buttons to reflect person or organisation being searched for.
Fixes
- Corrected an error where Profile 19 was not updated correctly by the Internet Assistant when processing on-line name and address updates.
- Corrected an error where an insufficient number of records could be identified when a multi-group selection was combined with an OR comparison operator on other fields on the Reporter.
- Corrected an error calculating amount owed when applying discounts to course attendance records.

- Modified Run Macro screen so that macros that are not on the pull-down list can still be run.
- Added Qualification for a person to information that can be merged into the body of an e-mail. Information can be qualification name only, qualification and institution or qualification institution and year attained.
- Added Special Interest Groups for a person to information that can be merged into the body of an e-mail. Information can be current, past or all special interest groups.
