Determining your printer's
non-printable area for name badge, ticket and label stationery |

Before you purchase any name badge, ticket or label stationery,
it is very important that you make sure that the name badge or ticket stationery you are
going to use will work correctly with your printer. For the stationery to work correctly
the margins on the pages of label/ticket stationery must be wider than the non-printable
area of your printer.
If the non-printable area of your printer is wider than the
margins of the stationery, you can cause the application to crash.
To determine your printer's non-printable area take the
following steps:
Within any MIE Software application, open any report in Print
Preview
From the File Menu select Print Setup. The following dialog
box will be displayed.

Note down the current values, then change all the margins to
zero as shown below and then click OK

From the File Menu select Print Setup again. The values now
displayed are set by your printer driver and represent your printer's non-printable area.
Whatever name badge, ticket or address label stationery you buy must have margins wider
(larger values) than those displayed here. For example, for the printer
represented below, stationery with top, bottom, left and right margins of at least 5mm
would work well, but stationery with margins of less than 4.24mm could display the message
'Some data may not be displayed...' and could cause the software to crash.

Finally, set the margins back to their original value.
