Troubleshooting - Importing demographics from a MS Excel spreadsheet

Scenario
After importing names and addresses from an Excel spreadsheet, you notice that only half of these names and addresses have been imported into your Summit database.

Reason
Your Excel spreadsheet may contain zero length strings which can disrupt the import process.

Solution
Complete the following steps:

  1. Open your Excel spreadsheet
  2. Select the entire contents
  3. From the Edit menu, select the Replace option
  4. The Find What field must be empty
  5. In the Replace With field, hit the space bar on your keyboard once
  6. Ensure that the Match Entire Cell Contents box is ticked
  7. Click Replace All
  8. Re-save the spreadsheet and try the import again
