SMS Text Messaging - Sign Up
There is an ability to send SMS text messages from Summit Event Manager - Pro or from Summit Central. These SMS text messages (of 160 charcters max)can be sent one at a time from a person's record by double-clicking on Mobile/Cell number field, or to multiple people using the Reporter.
In the past, this ability has been restricted to mobile numbers in Australia. From Summit Event Manager - Pro version 9.54 and
Summit Central version 4.13.04, this has been expanded to enable SMS text messages to be sent to mobile phone numbers in New Zealand,
America and the United Kingdom.
How it works...
Upon hitting the send button, an email is created (mobile number@smswebserver) and sent via MS Outlook. The SMS webserver will
convert this email into a text message and deliver it to that persons mobile/cell phone. If the recipient replies to that message, it will be delivered
to your MS Outlook inbox.
Benefits & Uses for this may include...
Offering it as part of a sponsorship package - sending everyone a taxt message to remind them about attending the sponsors function.
Reminders for delegates - "coaches for the gala dinner will be departing the hotel foyer at..."
It can be much easier to type your message on a keyboard, rather than trying to type on a keypad.
How to start sending SMS messages...
To be able to send SMS messages from Summit, all sending e-mail addresses must be registered with us. It costs $44 to register your
organisation's first e-mail address. There is no charge for registering additional e-mail addresses for your organisation.
There is a monthly charge of $5.50 for the SMS service, inclusive of your first 22 SMS text messages for each month. Additional SMS
messages are charged at $0.25 per message. All prices are in Australian dollars and are GST Inclusive in Australia.
To register for SMS text messaging, complete the form below.
To send a SMS text message to as a mobile in another country:
1. Change your SMS country to the country of the mobile as shown below.
2. Make sure that the mobile field only contains the mobile number, NOT the country prefix.
-In Summit Event Manager Pro (v. 9.54 or higher), open the Set-up menu and select Global Options.
-In Summit Central (v. 4.13.04 or higher), open the Set-Up menu and select Personal Options
